Ski Lessons

Craigieburn ski lessons are a fantastic and fun way for you to improve your skiing. Our instructors are Canadian Level 3 or 4. We have ski programmes to suit all abilities and the terrain to match. For weekend bookings please email in advance to book in as this will help with planning (admin@craigieburn.co.nz). For cost information see the bottom of this page.

Steeps

If you lose confidence and things start falling apart when you get to the black chutes these sessions will teach you to keep your head in the game when it counts the most. Our instructors are highly proficient in assessing what the right amount of challenge is for your technical ability and personal mindset.

Mountain Skills

On the skiing side we’ll be learning to use terrain features to your advantage and adapt to ever changing snow conditions. Alongside this we will educate you in avalanche skills training including companion rescue and safe travel.

Instructor Prep

This doesn’t mean you’re planning a career change! This is for the technique geeks who love to learn about the science behind the methodology, or for anyone who would like to be able to help friends or family on the mountain. We’ll educate you in how to improve your own skiing whist also learning how to assess and create development tactics for other skiers. If you do decide you would like to take a formal certification course in the future we can help with specific prep for the course. The Steeps, Mountain Skills and Instructor Prep camps are available at the weekends unless arranged otherwise.

Sunday Programme - Group Lessons

  • Beginner Kids 10am – 12.30pm
  • Intermediate Kids 10am – 12.30pm
  • Parents / Other Adults – 10am – 12.30pm
  • Advanced Level Teens 1pm – 3.30pm

Our goal is to create passionate lifelong skiers starting at a young age! We believe kids need a combination of strong fundamental technique alongside a safe, fun social environment to really thrive on the mountain.

Our Beginner Kids will build foundation skills so your little one becomes one of those “naturals” who makes it all look so easy. Through skill directed games and playing on the mountain we hope to get them hooked on the CV experience. Kids must already have the ability to stop and turn in a snowplough. Let us know if they will require assistance on the rope tow.

Our Intermediate free ride group will develop ski technique using a mix of games and natural terrain features to boost confidence anywhere on the mountain in any condition.

We will also include some fun races and man-made features to keep things interesting. Skiers should be comfortable on blue off piste terrain and be starting to ski parallel at a minimum.

Our Advanced Teens free ride programme is designed to professionally coach skiing skills and decision-making skills so the older kids can safely shred any mountain anywhere in the world. Want pics or video for social media? We’ll line you up for the shots that won’t end in the blood bucket! Also, if you’re thinking of a gap year and are interested in instructing or learning about ski patrol we’ll educate and give a taste of the necessary skill sets required. Skiers must be comfortable on open black off piste terrain.

Our Adult Group Lesson is specifically scheduled so you can take some time to upskill yourself while the kids are being taken care of, however all over 18s are welcome not just parents. This will be a group looking to make some technical improvements to balance and flow on the main runs at Craigieburn. It will also give the opportunity to explore some of those runs you hardly ever get to or have never been to in a safe guided environment.
